Mercury is well prepared, with a focus on our people, our customers and on business continuity, for the evolving COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic and its impacts on New Zealand.

We are closely following New Zealand’s Ministry of Health guidelines, with measures including halting non-essential travel and increasing sanitation procedures.

We have robust business continuity plans in place for all our essential business functions.

Our attention remains on operating effectively and efficiently in a way that supports New Zealand, our communities and our customers through this time of uncertainty.

Customer care

Mercury works closely with government agencies, budget and community support organisations on behalf of vulnerable customers. Our customer-care ethos and established contacts will enable us to help customers get the support they need should they face payment difficulties due to changes in their circumstances.

Customers can go to for online help or call 0800 10 18 10.

Our People

Mercury has an embedded focus on the health and wellbeing of its people. Among support measures, we have had a flexible working policy in place for some time that includes support for working from home which we assess on a case by case basis.

Like everyone, we understand these are challenging times. Mercury is in a good position to respond to these challenges and to continue to support customers, communities and the country.
