We know this is a community where people get things done. The Waipipi Wind Farm Community fund will support organisations and projects that benefit the community around the wind farm. Around $30,000 is adjusted each year for inflation according to the CPI (see how much is available this year). The annual funding pool is split between two funding rounds.
We look for applicants from communities in the area surrounding the wind farm (defined as the Patea Ward of South Taranaki Council). Since the Fund began in 2021 we’ve supported projects at local schools, community halls, marae, golf clubs and sports clubs, rest homes and the amazing Waverley Summer Jam.
ROUND 1, SPRING: 1 October to 31 November
Successful applicants will be advised in February.
ROUND 2, AUTUMN: 1 March to 30 April
Successful applicants will be advised in June.
Once your funded project is complete, use the Report Back form to confirm how you've spent the funds and how the projects are benefiting the community.
$3,000 towards funding to continue their successful Junior Coaching programme.
$2,000 towards support for driving people - voluntary transport service.
$1,500 towards refurbishment of toilets.
$1,500 for a 8pp keepsake pull-out in the Patea Press.
$1,500 towards running costs.
$3,000 for consent cost for new water bore.

The Fund is looked after and administered by the Waipipi Wind Farm Community Fund Committee, made up of community members who have a good understanding of the local area and where support from the Fund might make a real difference to the community.
Mercury has faith in the local knowledge of the Committee to discuss and decide the allocation of the funds. All decisions of the Committee are final.
The Committee members are:
Robert Northcott (Chair), Jacqueline Dwyer, Alva Honeyfield, Mark Nicholas, Don Parkes, Owen Savage, Claire Symes.
