GAS
We offer piped natural gas and bottled LPG for your home. If you have both gas and electricity supplied by Mercury to the same address you will receive a 17.25 cents per day (incl. GST) Dual Fuel Discount applied in the gas charges section of your bill each month.

PIPED GAS
Piped gas can provide your home with instant hot water, and is an efficient way to heat multiple rooms. You can add piped gas to your current electricity plan at the same address, and get a 17.25 cents per day (incl. GST) Dual Fuel Discount applied to the gas charges section of your bill each month. Plus, all your services are on one bill!
Piped gas is distributed through pre-installed pipelines in your area, which are connected to your property. It’s available across much of the North Island including Auckland, Tauranga, Hamilton and Wellington. If you already have a piped gas connection, it’s easy to switch from your previous energy provider.
LPG gas
For customers living in areas outside of the natural gas network, Mercury provides bottled LPG gas deliveries and collections in many areas.
Bottled gas (LPG) is great for heating, cooking and hot water. Whether you’re switching bottled gas suppliers, moving to a new place or need to arrange a refill, we make it easy.
LPG stands for Liquefied Petroleum Gas. It is generally a mix of propane and butane, sold as bottled gas. LPG is manufactured during the refining process of petroleum, and is stored and supplied in cylinders.

Households and companies can save on gas by ensuring unneeded appliances are switched off. Heating water can consume a lot of energy, so ensure temperatures for hot water tanks and washing machines aren’t set too high. Where possible, use economy mode on devices such as dishwashers. Some power companies, such as Mercury, provide bundled gas services for your convenience.
LPG is stored and supplied in cylinders. We can deliver these to and collect from your location. On the other hand, piped natural gas is more convenient because it does not need to be delivered, and instead is distributed through pre-installed pipelines in your area.
