PUKETOI WIND FARM

Wind turbines at Mercury

The proposed Puketoi Wind Farm is on the Puketoi Range approximately 50 kilometres south-east of Palmerston North. Work is under way to progress this consented site to a shovel-ready project including baseline ecological surveys, transport route analysis, further site investigations and development of design.

Project Status: Consented with Tararua District Council, Palmerston North City Council and Horizons Regional Council, with a resource consent extension to 2031 to start construction.

Location: The wind farm site (and almost all of the transmission line) is in Tararua District, 40km south of Dannevirke and 39km east of the Turitea Wind Farm.

Maximum capacity: around 228MW, generating approximately 1,040GWh per year

Number of Turbines: 53

Blade tip height: 160m

Transmission connection: The Turitea transmission line was designed with spare capacity to connect Puketoi.
