Using microwave

GENERAL TIPS

There are lots of small ways to reduce energy use day to day – even from appliances and tech you might not think about.

LIGHTING

SWITCH TO LEDS
LEDs use up to 85% less power than old-school bulbs. They also last longer.
USE TASK LIGHTING
Only light the areas you need - like using a lamp at your desk or reading chair.
TURN LIGHTS OFF
An oldie, but always a goodie. Make a habit of turning off lights when you leave the room.

APPLIANCES

CHECK FRIDGE SEALS
Close a piece of paper in the door. If it slips out easily, the seal might need replacing.
COOL YOUR LEFTOVERS
Let food cool before refrigerating - hot food makes your fridge work harder.
COOKING IDEAS
Use the microwave! (They use less power than ovens). Switch the oven off early (It’ll keep cooking for a while). And on the stove, use the right size pan for the element.
