Mercury has won Gold in both the Electricity Providers and Internet Service Providers categories of the 2027 Reader’s Digest Quality Service Awards, alongside Silver in the Gas Providers category.
The result marks Mercury’s second consecutive Gold award for internet service, following its 2026 win, and another Gold for electricity after winning in 2024.
The awards recognise New Zealand businesses for outstanding customer service, based on independent research with consumers who rate providers they have used.
Mercury Chief Customer Officer, Suraiya Phillimore-Smith, says the recognition is especially meaningful because it comes from customers.
“Being recognised across electricity, broadband and gas is something our teams can be really proud of. Whether it’s helping someone get connected or answering a question about their bill, it’s the everyday care that makes a difference.

“Thank you to our customers for this recognition, and to our people for the work they do every day to make things easier. We’re delighted to celebrate these awards and will keep listening to our customers to understand where we can do better.”
Here are two of the 236 comments about Mercury shared by survey respondents across the electricity and internet service categories:
“I have been a customer for many years and have never had an issue. Pricing is competitive and I have bundled services so only one bill. Rewards scheme is worthwhile and customer service people are excellent.”
“Mercury have been good to deal with from the get go. When we moved into our new home the internet box was without a cable. Mercury sent one out to us free of charge.”
