Bake it better for Starship Free Power Day Offer - Terms and Conditions
We like to offer our customers something a little more wonderful just for being awesome customers. Lots of words, we know! But here’s everything you need to know about your Free Power Day Offer. Grab a cup of tea and have a read!
What is the Offer?
Mercury’s Free Power Day Offer (“Offer”) is available to existing residential Mercury customers who sign up to the Bake it Better for Starship fundraising campaign by completing the
before 31 July 2019 and who have a smart meter. If you’re a Mercury customer without a smart meter, not to worry! We’ll provide you with an alternative reward, as outlined below under section 8 and 9.
As part of this offer, you will receive one Free Power Day of your choice during the month of July 2019 so you can whip up a whole lot of wonderful in the kitchen to help fundraise.
A free power day is a day when you’ll get any power you use on that day, credited back by us (“Free Power Day”). You'll receive a credit for all of your electricity charges associated with the date of your Free Power Day. To be crystal clear, your free electricity charges are your daily fixed charge, variable usage charges, GST and the Electricity Authority levy. The Free Power Day excludes any special charges, gas or service charges. We’ll use the price plan that you are on five working days before your Free Power Day to work out what your fixed and variable charges are.
How can I redeem the Offer?
Customers who have signed up to Bake it Better for Starship and have acknowledged that they are a Mercury customer will receive an email from Mercury regarding their Free Power Day. You’ll need to follow the instructions and complete the form using your customer account number, name and Free Power Day of choice. This form must be completed by midnight 5 August 2019 for your Free Power Day to be redeemed.
You can choose any day between 1 – 31 July 2019 as your Free Power Day. This means that whether your date of choice has been and gone, or yet to come, we’ll make sure to credit your account for that day, so that you can relax while we take care of everything!
Once you have selected your Free Power Day, you will not be able to change your decision, so choose carefully!
Your Free Power Day cannot be exchanged or redeemed for cash.
How is my Free Power Day usage calculated?
Using smart meters, we can see how much power you used on your Free Power Day. If for some reason, your usage information is not available for your Free Power Day, or if you do not have a smart meter, then we are unable to give you a “free” power day because it is hard for us to work out exactly how much power you have used. However, we don’t want you to miss out, so instead we will take care of you by giving you a credit which is an exaggerated estimate. We will work out your credit by multiplying your most recent available usage by a factor equivalent to the difference between the usage of other Mercury customers who live near you on Free Power Days compared to non-Free Power Days.
Without smart meter data, it is hard for us to estimate exactly how much power you used on your Free Power Day so your free power credit may be different from the actual amount of power you used. We cannot give our non smart meter customers a “free” power day but we take care of our non-smart meter customers by ensuring that the free power credit is an exaggerated estimate.
When will I receive my credit?
The credit will be applied to your Mercury account within 45 days of your selected Free Power Day. You must remain a customer between
1 July 2019 – 5 August 2019
in order to receive the credit for your selected Free Power Day.
