How can I pay my Mercury bill?

We offer a range of payment options to suit your needs. Enjoy the simplicity of regular payments or keep it flexible with one-off payments. Check them out below. 

If you're an existing Mercury customer and joined before June:

  • You may have noticed that we've changed our bank account from ASB to ANZ. 
  • If you pay by direct debit or credit card, you don't need to do anything. You may have received an email to advise we are moving our direct debit processing to ANZ. If there are any disruptions to your direct debit payments during this process we will contact you by phone.
  • If you pay by online banking, please use the payee ‘Mercury NZ Ltd’ to ensure your payment goes to our new account.
     

REGULAR PAYMENTS

Make paying a breeze by setting up a regular payment.

  • Direct Debit: With Direct Debit, you can pay your bill monthly using your debit/credit card or bank account. The amount due is automatically deducted from your bank account or credit card each month on your due date. This means you won't ever miss a due date again!
  • SmoothPay: If eligible for SmoothPay, you pay a regular fixed amount each week or fortnight via direct debit. We reassess the payment amount regularly to ensure you aren't paying too little or too much. It definitely helps with budgeting, that's for sure! If you are interested in setting up SmoothPayget in touch.

 

ONE-OFF PAYMENTS

Keep it flexible with one-off payments that suit your needs.
 
  • Bank transfer via My Account: With My Account, you can make one-off payments towards your account whenever it suits you. Simply log in via the Mercury App or our website. These payments are taken in the form of direct debit. 
  • Pay by Debit or Credit Card: We've made paying by credit or debit card super easy! Simply log in via the Mercury App or our website. When you pay by debit card or with credit card, a 0.8% credit card surcharge applies.
  • Online Banking: All banks that offer online payment options have Mercury's payee details preloaded. Handy huh! If you have more than one Mercury account, you will need to set up a bill payment for each one. To allow us to allocate your payment as efficiently as possible, make sure you enter your name, account number, and phone number in the reference details. Automatic payments can be set up via online banking.
  • Phone Banking: Just contact your bank with your Mercury account number and you can make a payment over the phone! 
  • NZ Post: Not all NZ Post stores accept bill payments. Please refer to the NZ Post website for opening hours and details about services offered at each participating NZ Post agent. A processing fee of $1.50 will apply. Your payment slip is on the last page of your bill, so make sure you bring this with you. If you don't have your bill with you, the store will be able to look up 'Mercury' in their system and input the customers account number and payment amount manually. The fees are the same for barcode or non-barcode payments.

Mercury's GST number is 71-048-870. This can be found in the top right corner of your Mercury bill.

Unfortunately, we are unable to process payments via Prezzy Card.
