Any energy source that is continuously replenished by the processes of nature is considered to be renewable. The renewable energy types that you're probably most familiar with include hydroelectric, solar, wind, methane from landfills and geothermal. Generating electricity from sources such as these is generally considered to be cleaner and better for the environment.

How do we convert renewable energy into electricity?

In each case the process is relatively simple, although the cost and practicality of widespread use varies considerably.
