Always be careful when you use any electrical appliance or toy inside your home.

It is important to remember these tips:

  • Never put your finger or anything into a power point (apart from an electrical plug).

  • Pull by the plug not the cord when unplugging an appliance.

  • Do not use an electrical appliance when you are wet, have wet hands or you are standing in water.

  • Limit the number of appliances plugged into each outlet.

  • Look out for damaged plugs and cords. Do not touch them! Tell an adult.

  • Do not place electric cords so that they run through doorways or under carpets.

    Gas:

  • Ask your parents or an adult if you have gas heating or cooking in the home. If you ever smell gas or anything unusual around gas appliances, open doors and windows, move away from the area, preferably outside, and tell an adult straight away.
