 What to do if you discover a leak Do:
- Turn gas appliances off, if you still smell gas turn the
gas off at the meter.
- Ventilate the area by opening doors and windows.
- Leave electrical appliances as they are, don't turn
them off or on.
- Vacate the premises.
- Call 0800 2 FAULTS (0800 232 858), this is the Mercury Energy
Gas Faults line.
- Contact a gas fitter to install a gas detection device if
your sense of smell cannot detect gas odour.
Don't:
- Light a match, candle or cigarette.
- Turn electrical appliances or lights on or off.
- Use any phones including cellphones inside your house.
Ensure your gas appliances are checked annually by a registered gasfitter.
