Ways to pay

At Mercury Energy we offer eight convenient ways to pay your Mercury Energy account.

    Direct Debit


    Direct Debit is a hassle free way to pay your Mercury Energy bill each month. To setup a Direct Debit, you can either:

    Telephone Banking


    If you use telephone banking services you can add Mercury Energy to your payee options, then just transfer the amount due when the bill arrives each month.

    Internet Banking


    If you use online banking services you can add Mercury Energy to your payee options. When you receive your monthly account, you just go online and transfer the amount due from your bank account.

    Automatic Payment


    With this option, you authorise your bank to make an automatic payment at regular intervals into your Mercury Energy account (you decide the amount of the payment and the intervals between payments)

    Click here to download an automatic payment authority form. Fill it in and return it to your bank.

    Credit Card****

    By registering your credit card details with us, we'll automatically deduct your monthly balance from your American Express, Visa, Mastercard or Diners Club credit card account. This option also keeps your bank fees down and earns you points on any credit card loyalty programme you may belong to. To set up credit card payments, call us on 0800 10 18 10, or if you have registered your password you can set up online by clicking here.


     

    Cheque

    If you prefer you can simply write out a cheque each month and mail it back to us in the reusable, reply-paid envelope.

    In Person

    You can pay your Mercury Energy account over the counter at any New Zealand Post Shop.

    Pre-pay

     

    You can prepay for your electricity by switching to GLO-BUG. With GLO-BUG you pay for your electricity as you go, and instead of receiving a bill each month you'll simply top up your account as you need more electricity.

    An in-home display keeps you informed of how much electricity you are using, and how much credit you have left. The display is a convenient way to track usage, and can help you budget how much electricity you buy and use each day. With GLO-BUG there are no fixed daily charges – just one simple rate per unit (kWh) so you know exactly what the power’s costing.

    ** The 1% EasyPay discount for electronic payment (where the bill is paid in full by the discount expiry date, excluding payments by credit card or eftpos) will be calculated on the total current charges of the relevant bill, and will appear as a credit on the next bill. 1% EasyPay discount applies to all residential customers other than those on a prepay product.
