Thank You!
We wanted to say a big Mercury "THANK YOU!" to everyone who created stars for Starship this year. Hundreds of kids entered the competition online and over two thousand stars were posted to us!
The amazing, creative and glittering stars were all taken to Starship to bring joy to the kids who will be spending Chrsitmas there. Hanging the stars was a fun time, too. Thanks to the kids from Ellerslie school, we had plenty of hands to make a happy job of everything.
Amazing work, New Zealand.
Good energy is alive and well and everywhere we look.
Be sure to check out our Facebook page for photos of the stars, the hanging morning with Ellerslie school and of the VIP advanced screening of Tinin.

Stars for Starship returns
It’s that time of year again – a time when sun, surf, beaches and BBQs beckon. Being with family and friends tops our collective priority list and holiday cheer oozes into everyday life.
For lots of sick kids though, the holidays can be a rough time. We want to make sure the kids at Starship have a cool Christmas, so we've launched our annual Stars for Starship competition - where Kiwi kids decorate stars to hang on the tree at Starship.
(For some fun ideas on decorating stars, check out the video from the What Now crew below!)
A new twist to an old favourite
To make this year’s competition super easy to be a part of, it will be run via our
Facebook page. We’re also offering up some super cool prizes to the kids whose stars get the most votes!
For each star your littlie makes and enters into the competition, they ge the chance to win 10 tickets to an advanced VIP screening of The Adventures of Tintin.
Seeing a blockbuster movie before the rest of New Zealand with your best mates is awesome and anyone can enter!
Enter in 3 simple steps
To enter your child’s star (or stars), all you have to do is follow these three simple steps:
1) Make a star (this is the fun bit!)
Get your child’s imagination revving and let them run free with creativity. All you need is a bit of cardboard, some scissors, glue, glitter and paint. Creating the star is a fun activity to do together and with mates. Go for gold!
If you need a star pattern to get you stared, download one
here.
Once you’ve uploaded your child’s star, post them to us via freepost so we can use it to decorate Starship:
Freepost Authority Number 169331 – Mercury Energy Stars for Starship, Private Bag 92008, Victoria Street West, Auckland 1142.
*If you don’t have Facebook or want us to upload your star, no problem! Make sure you include your e-mail address and name with the star and we’ll upload it to the competition page for you.
3) Vote!
Talk to the troops, rally the rellies and cajole your coworkers. The 50 stars with the highest number of votes win!
Share the love
Sounds simple, right? That’s because it is.
Stars for Starship is a great way to get the kids into the holiday spirit. Be sure to tell your friends and colleagues about Stars for Starship, too. Getting involved and making a difference is easy.
The competition closes at midnight on the 11th of December, 2011.
