Appliance Running Costs

26 August, 2011 by Cassie Roma

The hidden costs of every day life.

The costs of everyday life are many and extremely varied – especially in the colder months when we all tend to use more electricity and more appliances. From boiling the jug for your morning cuppa, to turning on the TV to catch Shorty Street every night, there’s a cost associated with everything that uses power.

Knowledge is power.

Good news, we’ve come up with a handy little guide on what the costs are involved in everything from cooking dinner to drying that last load of laundry! And, just FYI, the assumptions of price being made on this page are based on an average household rate of 20.14cents per Kwh* (that means it might be slightly more or less than this).

Knowledge is power, so make sure you know which appliances you’re running and which ones you might not need to have on all of the time. If something’s got a light on at all times (think your DVD player, stereo, or computer) then it’s costing you money!
